Citizen scientists will be selected from a pool of Master Gardeners (MGs). Master Gardener Programs occurs in many states and are organized in Arizona at the County level under the direction of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. Working with Master Gardeners in Coconino, Maricopa and Yavapai Counties, we will identify volunteer citizen scientists to plant experimental gardens at each elevation. Candidates will be identified by contacting leadership in these groups and if needed a member of our Project Team will make a presentation on the “Milkweeds for Monarchs” vision. Candidate volunteers will be asked to complete an application that describes their garden site, current species in their garden, elevation, gardening experience etc. Selection will be done based on uniformity of the site and best fit to project needs.
